UNDISPUTABLE SCENARIO OF LEKKI TOLL-GATE BROUHAHA… Prince Olusesi

I find it incumbent writing this piece with accuracy and precision, not reporting out of pre-existing online information, characterized by sensationalism and fallacies of hasty generalization but as a Landlord and son of the soil at Lekki area of Lagos. I was born, bred & raised at Lekki barely four decades ago

I usually pass through this tollgate everyday due to the location of my office, and I am privy to the security networks at the tollgate, the activities of the tollgate, cameras are well stationed but if you must track influx of weapons on cars & vehicles, you need the Scanners.

At about 12:00 noon on Tuesday, October 20, 2020, Governor of Lagos State- Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu announced the imposition of a 24-hour curfew by the Lagos State which was detailed to commence around 9:00pm, it was believed that the curfew will curb the unwarranted tensions, vandalization of properties and other mayhem occasioned by some hoodlums outside the genuine #EndSARS protesters.

Highly classified information informed that the infiltrations of hoodlums to the genuine protesters at the Lekki tollgate could steal the Scanners at the Lekki Toll while the curfew lasts, hence, this informed the management of the Tollgate to remove the scanners and not the camera because camera cannot be removed in a hurry due to its stationary locations of the aerial antennae.

It is noteworthy that Mr Governor never ordered deployment of Soldiers, it is the exclusive responsibility of Mr President to do so, the camera is intact and all events recorded, its the duty of LCC to illuminate the tollgate and the emergence of Soldiers around 6:00pm staggered the members of the public on curfew that was detailed to commence by 9:00pm, shooting sporadically to the peaceful protesters at the Lekki toll gate by the soldiers with many causality, everything was further aggravated by over bloated lies and propaganda from online social media.

Mr Governor has promised to constitute an independent investigatory panel of enquiry latest by Monday 26th October,2020 where all key players and stakeholders will be part and the reports will be made public.

Its also expedient to note that different groups and ethnics in Lagos are giving the events sardonic and highly lugubrious colouration but member of public and genuine Nigerians will have details of the happenings as events unfolds.

Several lives were lost across the state in the last 48hrs properties and goods worth billions of Naira were burnt and looted by hoodlums across Lagos, the palace of Oba of Lagos and Oba Elemoro palace in Ibeju Lekki was vandalized and valuables carted away by the desperados who are unmindful of generational curse attached to anyone who engaged in such nefarious activities. Its not only appalling but highly devastating the incidents that will forever remembered in the historical purview of Lagos State.

My sincere condolences to the family and friends of those who lost their lives in this ugly incident, may God give them fortitude to bear the irreversible lost and equally appealed to the good people of lagos to calm down and give peace a chance by giving the sensitive and responsive government of Lagos the opportunity to address our grievances and channel our demands to the appropriate agencies of Government.
