Many outsiders may not understand the series of fraudulent atrocities that has been committed by the former Executive Governor of Zamfara State Abdul Aziz Yari.
Many might not know how the former Governor misappropriated the State’s resources for the period of eight years at the time he ruled the state.
This Medium learnt from many sources from Zamfara State that, Yari, the former Governor has never respected due process neither did he ever honor procurement acts as at the period of his reign. A typical example of such, according to the source, “was the way and manners Yari usually use to give verbal directives to some lucrative Ministries and Boards to embezzle state resources for himself and few members of his relatives without following due process.
The former Universal Basic Education Board Executive Secretary, ES. Murtala Jangebe who served under Governor Yari, who is as well currently serving a long jail term for misappropriation once said, “Yari gave him a monthly standing order to always release the sum of N70, 000, 000.00 to his brother Dan Auta, and even directed him that the said funds be converted to US Dollars before handing it over to his business mogul brother.
All these atrocities happened for the period of Yari’s 8 years in office.
Another financial mismanagement allegedly committed by the ex Zamfara Governor, was the construction of Gusau International Airport where the sum of N10b was appropriated and released to the former Governor and yet nothing was done. The records are available for the EFCC and ICPC to Investigate.
The records available so far, shows that Yari, enriched himself through a fraudulent means and remained the richest former Governor from the Northern Nigeria while Rev. Jolly Nyame of Taraba, and Joshua Dariye of Plateau are both serving various jail terms allegedly because of their religious affiliations.
