-Travel Award by SIDA (Swedish International Development Authority) to attend Pan-African Conference on Information Technology for the Advancement of Nutrition in Africa in Nairobi, Kenya, 21st to 25th July 2002.

– Part-sponsorship by Pfizer Specialties Ltd to attend Pan-African Conference on Information Technology for the Advancement of Nutrition in Africa in Nairobi Kenya, 21st July to 25th July 2002.

 -Fellowship awarded by SIDA (Swedish International Development Authority) to participate in the Global Nutrition 2000 (Advanced International Training Programme, Uppsala, Sweden.) at the Department of Medical Sciences  and Nutrition, University of Uppsala, Sweden, from February 28 to March 31,2000

– Fellowship of the physiological society(UK), Fellowship of the physiological society (NIGERIA), Fellowship of the Environmental Toxicology and Pollution Mitigation in 2019.

 
Contribution to society :  Ibiyemi Olatunji-Bello has graduated 4Ph.Ds and 37 MSc candidates while still supervising more PhD students.

Outstanding performance: Ibiyemi Olatunji-Bello has held several professional and administrative positions both at UNILAG and LASU. She was the Chairman, Biomedical Communications Management Committee, 2000-2003 and Member, Medical Education Committee between 2001 and 2005. She was an elected member of the Academic Board of the College of Medicine of the University of Lagos (CMUL) from 1999 to 2004. Member, Medilag Consult of the College of Medicine, Unilag from June, 2001 to September 2007, and Member, University of Lagos Women Society Nursery School Board, December 2000 to March 2005.

Background  

She was born on April 23, 1964 to Mrs Jadesola Ibidapo of ItaKose, Lagos Island and MrEmiola Ibidapo -Okunrinboye of Owo, Ondo State.

She attended Anglican Girls Primary School in Surulere from 1970 to 1974 and then Lagos Anglican Girls Grammar School in Surulere, between 1974 and 1979. She proceeded to Methodist Girls High School in Yaba, and Lagos State College of Science and Technology, Ikosi Campus where she did her “A” levels in 1982.She wasadmitted to study pharmacology at the University of Ibadan She bagged a BSc (Hons) in Physiology. In 1987, at the University of Lagos,After her NYSC at the University of Lagos, she was awarded MSc Physiology in 1987 at the University of Lagos. She attended a 6-month research training in the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio in the US in 1994.

She noted that working twice as hard as the male counterparts. Staying up in the night to write papers, sometimes going to the laboratory at night and even at weekend constitute a major work challenge.
 
She rose through the ranks from an Assistant Lecturer (1988-1991), Lecturer II between 1991 and 1996, Lecturer 1 between 1996 to 1999 at the College of Medicine of the University of Lagos, Idi Araba. Between 1999 and 2005, she was a Senior Lecturer. She was Associate Professor between 2005 and October 1, 2000 at the UNILAG College of Medicine.  In October 2007, she assumed duty as the first Professor of Physiology in   Lagos State University College of Medicine (LASUCOM).

She has held positions, which include: Acting Vice Chancellor, LASU (July –December 2010; January – October 2011). Deputy Vice Chancellor (December 2008 – December 2010). Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academic), LASU (November 2011- January 2013). Head, Department of Physiology, LASUCOM (October 2007 – December 2008).

She was State Government’s representative on the Lagos State University (LASU) Governing Council, between 2004 and 2008. She was LASU’s Senate representative in the Governing Council.(2004 to 2008)She was the pioneering Director of LASU Directorate of Advancement established by former Vice Chancellor, Prof Lanre Fagbohun, in 2016. She is happily married to Hon Tunji Bello, a journalist and lawyer, and the Commissioner for the Environment and Water Resources, and the former Secretary to Lagos State Government. They are blessed with 3 children
